Prepare for HSE Schools' Asbestos Inspections

The HSE issued a bulletin on 14th July alerting those running, governing or working in the school education sector to the programme of inspections that the HSE will be carrying out in primary and secondary schools from September 22 onwards, to assess how schools are managing the risks from asbestos in the school estate and meeting the "duty to manage" requirements under Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos regulations 2012.

UKNAR targets 1,000 schools in 2021 with asbestos awareness and prevention campaign

We are taking our key learnings from 2020 and setting our sights on 1000 schools adopting Asbestos SMART in 2021. This is still only about 5% of UK schools that contain asbestos but will better protect hundreds of thousands of pupils, staff and contractors.
